Two Flowery Foxes

Saki, age 13, and Hana, age 5, are a bonded pair with very different but complementary temperaments. Saki, short for Sakura (cherry blossom in Japanese), is a born leader, and Hana short for Hanako (flower girl in Japanese) is a carefree spirit!

A Tail of Two Sisters

Saki tends to take on a calm, leadership role. She is observant, steady, and looks out for those around her. Hana brings a lighter and more energetic presence. She is curious, independent, and especially alert during walks this time of year when wildlife activity picks up. Her strong prey drive keeps things interesting, especially around bunnies!

A Routine Built Around Their Needs

Consistency plays a big role in helping both dogs feel comfortable and secure. Saki prefers a beach stroll, a more relaxed pace, while Hana enjoys more stimulating activities and benefits from structured movement and engagement. She is highly engaged during walks and has a particular fascination with birds, whether at home with the family pets or out in the neighborhood looking for new friends. Balancing these needs during each visit helps create a smooth and positive experience for both dogs.

Rooted in Community

Mom Mara works as a clinical trial manager at small immunotherapy company with a focus in helping patients with lymphoma. She recently participated in the Big Climb 2026, climbing 73 flights of the Columbia Tower to raise research money for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society, Blood Cancer United. In her free time, she enjoys the Puget Sound with her Shibas, and keeps them fueled for adventure with homemade meals, always carefully supervised in the kitchen by Saki and Hana.

Care At All Stages

Mara recently navigated the rainbow bridge crossing of her 17-year-old Shiba, which greatly affected the whole family. The Rex & Roxy team made sure Saki’s and Hana’s regular needs continued to be met, while paying extra attention to their emotions while they adjusted to the change. In addition, Hana went through knee surgery shortly after, which meant her walks needed to be carefully adjusted, all while ensuring consistency for Saki.

Pure Personality

For households with multiple dogs, changing needs, or busy schedules, providing consistency allows them to thrive. We love getting to know the special parts of each pet’s personality and look forward to a visit with hairdresser Hana (seriously, she will give you a new hairdo if you let her) and sassy Saki, two sisters who complement each other perfectly.
