Smart, Sweet, and Full of Character
Eko and Curie are full of personality, in completely different ways. Eko cannot say hello without grabbing something—anything—to bring along. A sock, a toy, a slipper. She just wants to show up with a gift. Curie, on the other hand, is all about belly rubs. Walk past her and she will instantly roll over, inviting you to pause and give her a little love.
They found their family through two very different paths. Eko was rehomed within the family during a tough time, while Curie joined the household after originally being a patient in Micaela’s vet school surgery program.

The Joys of Home (and Bunnies)
Eko is happiest when the whole family is home, tucked into a routine she can count on, or when she gets to show off her skills in a structured training game. She is thoughtful, observant, and clearly enjoys working things out.
Curie, on the other hand, has a single-minded passion: flushing and chasing bunnies. She takes it seriously, and somehow always knows where to look.
They both also love a good game of Red Light Green Light!

Trust and Teamwork
Curie and Eko's humans, Micaela and Doug, appreciate that Rex & Roxy lets them set the rules for the walk so the dogs maintain good leash skills, and also note that, “The updates give me peace of mind and the photos are often delightful.”
What do Eko and Curie love most? The sniffs! Especially after a good rain.
And having someone reliable show up during the day helps ease the pressure of long shifts. “Rex & Roxy has significantly alleviated my guilt at the end of a 14-hour work day, knowing my dogs were not without activities.”

Two Dogs, One Mission: Sniff Everything
Eko and Curie are very much their own dogs, but they make a great team. They move through the day with quiet confidence — Curie always alert to what might be hiding in the brush, Eko never far from the action (or a chance to show off a new trick).
And wherever they go, the mission is clear: sniff everything. Whether it is a trail in the grass or a change in the air, they are always tuned in. Curious, grounded, and completely themselves, they are exactly where they are meant to be.

Where Compassion Meets Behavior Science
Curie and Eko's mom, Dr. Micaela Young, leads the Happy Animal program at Urban Animal, a behavior-focused service designed to help pets and their people live safely and peacefully together. Her approach is rooted in the Humane Hierarchy, emphasizing safety, empathy, and science-based training methods that avoid pain, fear, or intimidation. From cooperative care training to support for complex behavior issues, her work helps families understand and support the whole animal, physically, emotionally, and behaviorally.
